Double-edged sword: Gratitude and Joy

Morning!

It’s a cold day in the Mother city today, so I hope your dressed accordingly to the weather in your corner of the world.

Today I want to share with you an ‘aha’ moment I had on gratitude during the weekend. What I never realised was how Gratitude is not just an attitude, but a practice. People just don’t have ‘an attitude of gratitude’, they work on it. They actively practice gratitude (sooo obvious now why it’s so hard to stay grateful).

Well my main point is that in order to experience Joy and lean into those moments, one needs to have gratitude. When things are going great, don’t be afraid to immerse yourself in joyful moments by being grateful (joy can be so difficult at times *whew!*). So don’t ‘dress rehearse tragedy in order to beat vulnerability to the punch’ (says Brene), for when the things that bring us joy are gone, it won’t hurt any less.

Go on, show gratitude and just give yourself to joy this week.

Joy and gratitude go hand in hand. We are not grateful because we’re happy, rather we’re happy because we’re grateful.

You are enough

Morning,

I had a lovely weekend with my people and got more people from that… (and here I thought I had a hard time making friends). So I do sincerely hope that you enjoyed youth day and father’s day to the fullest.
What I’d like to share with you is that- just in case you weren’t aware- You. Are. Enough. When you start to doubt yourself, wondering if you’re good enough to do what you do, to be with the people you’re with; whether you’re skinny enough, pretty enough or smart enough, be reminded this week that the person you are is ENOUGH.
What disqualifies you is not your flaws or shortcomings, but your attitude concerning them. Start by accepting yourself as you are and when those thoughts of self-doubt creep in, tell yourself that you’re good enough. Don’t limit yourself this week and please, dare to be more.

Another thing: Good friend of mine won the Cape Town leg of the SABC Sports Presenter Search. *thumbs up for daring to be more*

Don't sweat the small stuff

Hello sunshine,

It’s been a hectic week and weekend, and I hope yours was well spent as well.

I came across a list of things to do in order to avoid minding the small stuff. However, I connected with just one or two out of the whole list…and that is; “Make peace with imperfection”

Accept yourself as you are-and accept what you have and what you don’t have. More is not always better. As well as; Ask yourself the question: “Will this mater a year from now?”

So this week, learn to not sweat the small stuff. Focus on more important things, like spending time with loved ones and showing appreciation and gratitude to everyone around you.

The struggle ends when the gratitude begins.

Everyday a special occassion

Hello Friend,

Leaving an amazing weekend behind us, I hope that you experienced the same wonder and saw God’s grace in all that surrounded you.

I’d like to encourage you this morning to look at every single day as if it was a special occasion. Some didn’t see past this weekend and here we are, given yet another chance to get in line with our purpose; send love notes to our family and friends; do the right thing by others, forgive, laugh and say “I’m sorry”.

Take a challenge with me this week, and look yourself in the mirror every morning and say; “I’m divinely inspired and victoriously anointed; I matter and I’m living within my purpose”
Note your feeling and emotions through the week and Let me know how it goes…

when life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile.
